Life is short, make it good.

Katie Roberts

I had the opportunity to chat with Crystal Green, the owner of a new local boutique business, Euphemeral Designs. Euphemeral felt familiar, as if I had seen it somewhere before. I asked her what “Euphemeral” means.  She made up this word – which means “a good fleeting moment”, which evolved into her business tagline: “Life is short, make it good.”   I paid a visit to her marketing space a while ago, and was dazzled by the lovely color palettes she used such as this couch.

She also has other items she had collected, such as a lovely decorative hanging rope element which can be used for special occasions at home. She sells not just furniture, but also non-furniture items “smalls”, that can be used to add an decorative element.

“I believe that because we are humans are so prone to organic change and evolution as we grow and develop, our design style should evolve and grow too”.

Crystal feels design should be easy and approachable, that it should be fun, always evolving and be part of our lives as we change and learn. Crystal advises that thrift store furniture, especially well made furniture, of solid wood offer a certain history, soul and character.  The opportunity is there to create something new using older pieces.

As for the future, I asked Crystal if she would ever be interested in providing a workshop on renovating furniture – there would be so much interest and she said she’d be thrilled to do that someday.  She has many plans for the future – such as doing more private design work, expanding into a staging company for real-estate businesses and furniture rentals.

It has been quite a journey for her – with a steep learning curve, a bit overwhelming at times, but she feels good about what she has accomplished and she looks forward to where it is taking her.  At this time, she has a blog – you can check it out at  www.euphemeral.blogspot.com

If you’re interested in checking out her wares, you may check them out in  The Modern Cottage Vintage Market, downtown Tacoma in the theater district. 311 S. 7th St, Tacoma, WA.  The shop is open Thursdays 11 to 3, Fridays 11 to 4, Saturdays 10 to 5, Sundays 12 to 4.

“I feel so fortunate to being doing something I love. It has been a wonderful journey so far.”
